9,000 PEOPLE CONSTRUCTED METRO DURING THE NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS

The Big Circle Line is the key project of the Moscow metro engineering

“About 9,000 people continued the construction of new metro lines and stations in Moscow during the New Year holidays”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general designer and general contractor to construct new lines and stations of the Moscow metro.

“Moscow didn’t suspend the implementation of strategically important projects during the New Year holidays, including the Moscow Metro Development Programme. About 8,800 people were involved on 85 construction sites of the metro facilities during the holidays,” said Andrey Bochkarev.

He pointed out that metro engineering is a non-stop operation.

“Currently, the Big Circle Line is the key project of the Moscow metro engineering. Accordingly, the main resources were directed to the construction of the BCL: about 5,000 builders worked at 39 sites of the BCL during the holidays,” specified the Deputy Mayor.

In turn, Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, explained that another thousand builders were erecting the concomitant infrastructure facilities of the metro.

“During the holidays, about 700 people were involved working at the electric depot facilities, and another 150 people were working in the construction of transport interchange hubs at the stations under construction,” explained Yuri Kravtsov.

Recall that the tunnelling of the last tunnel of the Big Circle Line between the Nagatinsky Zaton and the Klenovy Bulvar stations was completed on 29 December 2021. The length of the Big Circle Line will exceed 70 km, and it will accommodate 31 stations, 22 of which are already open to passengers.
