AN ADVANCED ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL SYSTEM IS USED AT THE NSC AND BCL CONSTRUCTION SITES

It complies with the ISO 14001 standard

“Mosinzhproekt Holding applies a cutting edge environmental control system at the construction sites in Moscow. There are iconic projects such as the National Space Center (NSC) and new stations of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Moscow Metro”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is the operator of the key urban planning programmes in Moscow.

“The holding’s experts have implemented and continue developing an environmental control system in all areas of their work. The system operates at all stages of the operation cycle during the project’s construction: engineering surveys, development of design documentation, administrative activities, construction management, and supply of equipment and construction materials”, specified Andrey Bochkarev.

According to the Deputy Mayor, the system also enables the contractors’ work to be monitored.

Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, stated that the company has developed and implemented an inspection plan that allows to identify non-compliances of contractors performance with the holding’s environmental protection policy and implement prompt remedial measures.

“The environmental regulations adopted at Mosinzhproekt Holding meet the requirements of the Russian legislation and international standard ISO 14001. In addition to the mandatory environmental measures, the holding develops and applies its own “green” initiatives. Thus, as part of the control system, the environmental aspects at each site (construction waste generation, noise level, pollutant emissions released into the air) were ranked using an exposure index and a significance coefficient”, explained Yuri Kravtsov.

The General Director of the engineering holding stated that the company’s unified register of significant environmental aspects enables the efficient monitoring of the environmental impact, particularly on the construction sites of the National Space Center and the future Big Circle Line stations.

Vladimir Dorovskiy, Deputy General Director for Quality, Safety and Health Protection, Industrial Safety, and Environmental Protection at Mosinzhproekt JSC, recalled that in 2021, the holding became the winner of the ECO BEST AWARD in the category “For Implementing an Effective Environmental Safety System in Construction”.

“The continued implementation of green rules and their strict adherence by all divisions and subsidiaries of the holding helps us to support the status of the company as environmentally friendly. Furthermore, compliance with the requirements is stipulated in the company’s contracts with contractors and is mandatory for contractors and subcontractors. For example, they are liable for the separate accumulation of waste in suitable containers for further transfer of waste for recycling, and the operation of faulty equipment is banned. A rule has recently been introduced that an engine shall not be idling at a construction site for more than two minutes continuously”, said Vladimir Dorovskiy.

Mosinzhproekt is one of the largest engineering holdings in Russia, the operator of key urban development programmes in Moscow, as well as acting as a general designer and a general contractor for construction of the new metro lines and stations, and a range of large-scale road infrastructure and civil facilities.
