“A 90-metre-long overpass over Nizhniye Mnyovniki Street is being designed as part of the road network of the developing territory of the Mnyovnikovskaya floodplain”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.
Mosinzhproekt GC is the operator of several major urban development projects, including the Mnyovnikovskaya floodplain.
“Experts from Mosinzhproekt coordinate the integrated construction of utilities, motorways, and the creation of convenient walking routes. Sites are being prepared for the construction of residential and business development, sports facilities and social infrastructure, which will be also be funded by private investors. The overpass will provide residents and visitors to the Mnyovnikovskaya floodplain with an unobstructed and safe link between the Moskva River embankment and the area near the current Mnyovniki station of the Big Circle Line of the Moscow Metro”, said Andrey Bochkarev.
According to the Deputy Mayor, the overpass will be designed as a glass tube.
“The engineering structure will consist of two spans of about 51 and 38 metres with a pier located on the islet between the traffic areas. Part of the facades and the transverse rings of the translucent part of the structure will be bright red”, added Andrey Bochkarev.
Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, specified that the translucent part of the overpass would be made of steel-framed curved glass, and the lower part of the overpass would have decorative lattices.
“The design envisages two exit towers on opposite sides of Nizhniye Mnyovniki Street. One will have three levels, the other will be a four-level one. They will be clad in three-layer aluminium panels in red and light grey and will be equipped with lifts with a capacity of 630 kg for people with reduced mobility”, said Yuri Kravtsov.
According to the head of the Group of Companies, switch rooms, service and utilities premises have also been designed, and the electrical mechanical equipment of the overpass envisages an integrated monitoring and video surveillance system by the operating organisation. The overpass is being designed by Mosinzhproekt Institute, the head design organisation of the Group.
Rustam Cherkesov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt Institute LLC, specified that the design documentation for the facility was being implemented using information modelling technologies. The project creates information models of engineering surveys containing information on the irregularities of the earth’s surface as digital models of a relief, and digital models of the made project decisions. 3D-coordination is carried out, which links all the elements of the engineering structure with the terrain.
“Everything that is conceived in the project can be seen in the 3D model, which is ‘movable’ and changes depending on the choice of particular components. The use of computers for computations speeds up the work, and the visualizing the scope of materials and work enables experts to come out with the best design solution, which provides the high quality and reliability of the facility, while reducing the cost of its construction”, informed Rustam Cherkesov.
The Mnyovnikovskaya floodplain covers an area of 352 hectares. The site planning envisages the creation of residential and business development, facilities of social infrastructure and park areas, both at the expense of the city budget and by private investors. The development of this major urban planning project in the capital will create around 30 thousand jobs.
The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies acts as an operator for a number of major urban planning projects in Moscow, such as the Mnyovnikovskaya floodplain, the vacated territory of M.V. Khrunichev Space Center, as well as the Kommunarka ABC in New Moscow. The total area of the facilities scheduled for construction exceeds 12 million square metres.
