ANOTHER tunnelling ON THE BIG CIRCLE LINE is complete

The shield passed in the technical zone of the Zamoskvoretskaya line

“Tunnelling of the right running tunnel between the Kashirskaya station and transfer chamber near the Klenovy Bulvar station under construction on the eastern section of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Moscow Metro is complete”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction. Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general designer and general contractor to construct new lines and stations of the Moscow metro.

“Olga tunnelling machine with a 6-meter diameter passed single-track tunnel which is about 500 meters long between the Kashirskaya station and the transfer chamber at the Klenovy Bulvar station,” said the Head of Moscow Complex of Urban Planning Policy and Construction.

The Deputy Mayor clarified that the work was carried out at a depth of 4 to 24 meters in restrained urban conditions, as well as under the territory of Kolomenskoye Museum-reserve.

“Tunnelling of the BCL is already 97% complete, and the line is 88% complete,” recalled Andrey Bochkarev.

For his part, Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, noted that the tunnelling of the section was carried out in mixed soils, mainly in the fine sands and loams.

“Olga passed part of its way in the technical zone of the operating Zamoskvoretskaya line. The work was carried out with caution, adhering to the required instructions,” explained Yuri Kravtsov.

The head of Mosinzhproekt reminded that currently, four tunnel boring machines work on the Big Circle Line.

“In the east of the BCL, Victoria and Lilia, ten-meter giant shields make tunnelling, which will connect Pechatniki, Nagatinsky Zaton, and Klenovy Bulvar stations via double-track tunnels as well as the six-meter Elena, which is making the tunnelling of the second tunnel between the Kashirskaya station and the transfer chamber. In the west of the Big Circle Line, the tunnel of the link line to the future Aminevskoye electric depot is being constructed,” said Yuri Kravtsov.

The construction of the Big Circle Line of the Moscow metro is the flagship project of the Moscow Metro construction. The length of the circle line will amount to 70 km. It will have 31 stations, 12 of which are already open for passengers.

Nine more new stations and one reconstructed station will be commissioned by the end of the year.
