BRIDGE ACROSS THE NOVINKI BACKWATER IS THREE QUARTERS COMPLETE

“The bridge across the Novinki backwater on the grounds of the former ZIL industrial zone is 75% complete”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding Group is a general contractor for the construction of the facility.

“Seven bridge piers and retaining walls have been erected, and all temporary supports for load distribution for further launching of the span have been completed”, said Andrey Bochkarev.

The Deputy Mayor noted that the launching of the metal work of the span is underway, 183 metres have already been completed.

“After construction of the metal span, the piers and pier caps of two remaining pillars will be concreted”, explained the head of the Construction Complex.

According to Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, a 1.2 km long access road is being built on the territory of the former ZIL industrial zone with the construction of the bridge.

“980 metres of road formation have been completed, 950 metres of storm water drainage have been laid, and work is also underway to install communication networks, water supply system and power cables”, said Yuri Kravtsov.

The construction of the bridge across the Novinki backwater is part of the transport framework development project for new residential areas in the former ZIL industrial zone. It will be 615 metres long and 26 metres wide, with two traffic lanes in each direction and pedestrian sidewalks.

The bridge will also link the Simonovskaya Embankment under construction with the Yuzhnoportoviy district, which will relieve the Third Ring Road (TRR), Varshavskoye Highway and Andropova Avenue.
