Construction workers have started the architectural decoration of the platform section ceiling at the Universitet Druzhby Narodov station under construction of the Troitskaya metro line, according to Mr. Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction.
Mosinzhproekt is a general designer and general contractor for the construction of new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.
“In the course of the architectural decoration of the passenger area of the Universitet Druzhby Narodov station under construction of the Troitskaya Line, the installation of ceiling subsystems for further cladding with metal panels has started”, said Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.
According to Deputy Mayor, similar structures have already been installed on the tunnel walls, while the decoration of the columns and some of the walls of the platform area with Sayan marble and the floor with Siberian granite continues, covering one fifth of the platform.
“According to the design project of the Universitet Druzhby Narodov station, the ceiling and tunnel walls will feature large-format metal face plates, while the floor and columns on the platform will be finished with various types of granite, marble and gabbro”, added Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.
Mr. Yuri Kravtsov, CEO, Mosinzhproekt JSC, specified that the new station was nearly 75% complete – the in-situ concreting had been completed, the excavation backfill was almost complete and the installation of utilities was well underway.
“The air ducts and pipelines are more than 50% complete, and the installation of electrical networks are one-third finished. The construction workers are often working ahead of schedule”, specified Mr. Yuri Kravtsov.
According to CEO of Mosinzhproekt, the rigid base and track structure in the tunnels adjacent to the station have been completed, and improvement of the adjacent territory has begun on the ground level.
“In the initial phase of the improvement, about 3,000 cubic metres of asphalt has been laid and over 5,500 cubic metres of granite tiles paved, the first lighting towers have been installed. The construction workers are making preparations for the next phase of the improvement”, said Mr. Yuri Kravtsov.
The 40 km long Troitskaya metro line will connect the platforms of the Moscow Central Circle (MCC) with the urban district of Troitsk, passing through the Southern, South-Western, Troitsky and Novomoskovsky districts of the capital. The expected passenger traffic flow is about 100 thousand people per day. About 1 million people live near the new stations, and several hundred thousand more work or study nearby.
Previously, Mr. Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, inspected the construction progress of the Universitet Druzhby Narodov station of the Troitskaya metro line.
“Universitet Druzhby Narodov is an important station. There are hundreds of thousands of local residents who will use this station. Transport accessibility will be improved for them. However, there are also universities around this station: Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, MSU Faculty of Biology, Moscow University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, scientific and medical centres. Of course, the commissioning of the station and the line means a considerable improvement of transport accessibility for them”, said Mr. Sergei Sobyanin.
In 2023, Mosinzhproekt celebrates its 65th anniversary. Since 2011, with the involvement of Mosinzhproekt, more than 152 km of metro lines and 70 new metro stations have been commissioned, and 11 electric depots have been constructed and reconstructed.
