The next stage of improvement of the Lefortovo station area of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Moscow Metro, which will include an ice skating rink, is being completed, according to Mr. Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction.
The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor for the construction of new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.
“A phased implementation of the 8.75-hectare improvement project adjacent to the existing Lefortovo station of the Big Circle Line is underway. About 10 thousand square metres of pavements and paths in the park area have been laid with granite tiles, and more than five thousand square metres of lawn have been laid”, said Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.
According to Deputy Mayor, both the sidewalk and the roadway on Nalichnaya Street, Soldatskaya Street and Projected passage No. 1329 have been laid with bituminous concrete pavement. Small architectural forms (SAFs) have been installed throughout the landscaped area, including benches, gazebos, cachepots and swings.
Mr. Yuri Kravtsov, CEO, Mosinzhproekt JSC, noted that around 300 trees and shrubs had also been planted on the site, including fir-trees, maples, lindens, rowan trees and apple trees.
“The stage, which includes the construction of the 60m by 30m ice skating rink along Nalichnaya Street, is almost complete. An administrative building with staff rooms, a skate hire shop and changing rooms, as well as a building with offices and a warehouse for ice care equipment, have been built next to it”, specified Mr. Yuri Kravtsov.
The head of the holding added that video surveillance systems were being set up and the ice resurfacing equipment was being installed. In the warmer months, the ice skating rink can be used as a regular sports ground, as it has a rubber surface.
“Improvement is continuing, and in the future there will be bicycle lanes around the ice skating rink, behind the concourse of the Lefortovo station and in the park area”, said Mr. Yuri Kravtsov.
The Lefortovo station, temporarily operating as part of the Nekrasovskaya line, is part of the north-eastern section of the BCL. The creation of the Big Circle Line is the main project of the Moscow Metro construction. Its length will exceed 70 km, and it will accommodate 31 stations, 22 of which are already servicing the passengers.
