“In line with construction of the Moscow High-SpeedDiameter (MSD), the construction activities, related to pile foundations of the bridge supports across the Bitsa River at the tenth section of the South-Eastern Chord began, the latter running from the Moscow Ring Road to Solntsevo-Butovo-Varshavskoye Highway”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.
Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general contractor and general designer of a range of sections of the South-Eastern Chord, which will be incorporated into the Moscow High-Speed Diameter.
“The road bridge across the Bitsa River will enable traffic along eight lanes of the main course of the South-Eastern Chord (SEC), four in each direction, as well as additional exits to the Moscow Ring Road and Simferopol Highway”, said the Deputy Mayor.
He specified that, beside the bridge, at the site it is scheduled to build flyovers, tunnels under the Moscow Ring Road and Simferopol Highway, as well as four overground and underground pedestrian crossings.
Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, added that the length of the bridge will reach 109 metres, it will have five pillars, the beam span of the half pre-cast structure will be assembled using cranes, followed by the roadway slab construction.
“To date, the activities related to penetration of all intended 49 piles of the second pillar are completed, and the process areas are being set-up as well to enable construction of pile foundations for the remaining pillars”, said Yuri Kravtsov.
Earlier, Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, announced about the decision to stitch together the North-Eastern and South-Eastern Chords into a new city highway under a possible name of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter. Completion of the expressway is estimated at 62%.
“For the millions of car owners, creation of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter will constitute a new transport reality: faster and more comfortable travels from one area of the city to another. Bypassing the center, it will take only 40 minutes to drive through the entire city without a single traffic light”, wrote Sergei Sobyanin in his blog.
