CONSTRUCTION OF BCL STATIONS TOOK ABOUT 2-3 YEARS ON AVERAGE

Within the first day of the business programme of the Construction Industry: Plans and Prospects conference, representatives of the federal and capital’s construction complexes, deputies of the State Duma and representatives of the professional community discussed the prospects of urban planning in Russia.

The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies, the operator of the key urban planning programmes, is acting as the strategic partner of the event.

Mr. Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction, assured in his welcoming speech to the conference participants that the Moscow Complex of Urban Planning Policy and Construction would maintain a high pace and volume of real estate construction that year.

The Big Circle Line was constructed at a record pace and became a unique project for the entire world metro construction, according to Mr. Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction.

The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor for the construction of new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.

“The Big Circle Line construction project was implemented in the shortest possible time. Given the scale and complexity, this is a real achievement for all project designers, architects, engineers and construction workers”, noted Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.

According to him, on average, the construction of the stations took two to three years.

“At the same time, the stations are highly complex engineering structures, each with approximately 800 km of cables and 55 different utilities installed. These systems include about 25 thousand pieces of equipment that ensure the station’s functioning”, specified Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.

Deputy Mayor informed that the stations were constructed in cut-and-cover method, in which tunnels and stations are built in open pits and backfilled with soil after completion, and by closed method, without excavating the surface.

On 1 March, Mr. Vladimir Putin, Russian President, and Mr. Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, opened the traffic along the entire Big Circle Line of the Moscow Metro.

“This is a historic event not only for the metro, but for the entire transport system and Moscow. It is the biggest and most challenging project in the history of metro construction. It is the new heart of Moscow’s transport system, which integrates both the MCD and the MCC and metro lines into a single transport system, and allows new metro lines to be connected, creating the future of the transport system. This is, of course, a huge and important project”, stated Mr. Sergei Sobyanin.
