An escalator tunnel will be constructed for the second concourse of the Rizhskaya station of the Big Circle Line (BCL), according to the official website of the Moscow Mayor and Government (mos.ru).
The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor for the construction of new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.
“At the moment, there is one concourse for passengers functioning at the Rizhskaya station. The design of the BCL station will include a second entrance near Vodoprovodniy Lane. The inclined tunnel will link the deep underground metro station with the new concourse, which will provide a comfortable interchange for passengers between different modes of urban transport”, said Mr. Igor Voystratenko, Chairman of the Moscow State Construction Supervision Committee.
The tunnel will be 124 metres long. Cast-iron tubings are used for its construction and the waterproofing is ensured by caulking seams and injecting a special mixture behind the cast-iron elements.
Recall that the Rizhskaya station was opened on 1 March this year as part of the launch of the entire Big Circle Line of the Moscow Metro. In a vote on the Active Citizen portal, Muscovites included the Rizhskaya station in the top three most beautiful new BCL stations.
The creation of the Big Circle Line is the main project of the national metro construction. It is more than 70 km long and has 31 stations.
In 2023, Mosinzhproekt GC celebrates its 65th anniversary. Since 2011, with the involvement of the holding, more than 152 km of metro lines and 70 new metro stations have been commissioned, and 11 electric depots have been constructed and reconstructed.
