Extensive building activities are taking place on the section of the South-East Chord from Grayvoronovskaya to Shosseynaya

“The interchange of the five overhead highways will appear at the intersection of the South-East Chord (SECh) from Grayvoronovskaya to Shosseynaya Street with Volgogradsky Prospekt”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction. Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding acts as the general contractor and general designer of several sections of the South-East Chord.

“Currently, work continues on the entire length of the section of the South-East Chord from Grayvoronovskaya to Shosseynaya Street. As part of the reconstruction of the interchange at the intersection of the South-East Chord with Volgogradsky Prospekt, five overhead highways are in the active construction stage,” said Andrey Bochkarev.

According to him, the whole length of the nearly 1.5 km section of the South-East Chord route will pass on the base line overhead highway due to the dense urban development.

“As part of the construction of the overhead highway 37 pillars out of the 44 planned have already been erected and 516 tons of steel structures of the spans mounted,” said the Deputy Mayor.

Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, explained that on the left-turn exit from Volgogradsky Prospekt to the base line of the South-East Chord towards Kashirskoye Highway, 10 pillars out of 15 had been erected and 655 tons of steel structures of the spans installed.

“At the 552-meter overpass of the left-turn exit from the South-East Chord to Volgogradsky Prospekt towards the region, 7 pillars out of 16 are ready and 535 tons of steel structures are installed, including 10 precast beams of span structures,” said the head of the holding.

He added that the other two overpasses like the exit from Volgogradsky Prospekt to the South-East Chord towards Ryazansky Prospekt, where the pile foundation 3 of 4 pillars is completed, as well as the exit from the base line of the South-East Chord (when traveling towards Ryazansky Prospekt) to Volgogradsky Prospekt towards the Moscow Automobile Ring Road. The first pillar out of 10 has already been erected here, and the pile foundations of another 5 pillars are ready.

According to him, work has begun on the construction of a new storm water drainage and the reconstruction of the rain drainage reservoir unit.

“To date, about 30% of the work on the reconstruction of 0.4-10 kV cable lines has been completed. Also, the reconstruction of high-voltage cable lines of 110 kV has begun and the construction of the monolithic underground part of one out of two locking transitional wells has been completed,” specified Yuri Kravtsov.

The creation of the North-West, North-East, South-East Chords, and the Southern Rokade is the key project of today’s development of the capital’s road and transport network. Chords will connect disparate parts of the city on the periphery and will have exits to the Moscow Automobile Ring Road which will help to lessen the load of the city center and its distant areas. According to experts, the chord system of traffic is 20% more efficient than the secluded circle one. The specialists of Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding take an active part in the implementation of the project.
