FINISHING OF THE RIZHSKAYA STATION OF THE BIG CIRCLE LINE OF THE MOSCOW METRO IS NEARLY COMPLETE

“Architectural and finishing work on the platform section and concourse of the Rizhskaya station of the north-eastern section of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Moscow Metro is nearly complete”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor to build the new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.

“The installation of metal umbrellas, which perform both decorative and waterproofing functions, has been completed on the ceiling of the platform section and the inclined escalator tunnel. The escalator zone also has aluminium panel boards. The architectural lighting is almost complete, wall and floor finishing has been completed earlier”, said Andrey Bochkarev.

According to the Deputy Mayor, portal arches, serving as passageways from the central hall directly to the platforms, have been installed. The metal arches are the main architectural elements of the station.

Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, said that it remained to complete the cladding on the platform section, where the installation of engineering equipment was still underway, in particular the smoke exhaust system.

“The architectural and finishing work is more than 90% complete in the entrance concourse. Finishing is also nearly complete in the interchange zone to the Rizhskaya station of the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya Line”, said Yuri Kravtsov.

The head of the engineering holding recalled that the Rizhskaya station was built by the mining method in conditions of dense urban planning, in the immediate vicinity of the Rizhsky railway station.

In addition to the Rizhskaya station, the north-eastern section of the Big Circle Line includes the Sokolniki and Maryina Roshcha stations under construction and the Aviamotornaya, Lefortovo, Elektrozavodskaya, which are already built and temporarily operating as part of the Nekrasovskaya Line, as well as the connecting line in the Nizhegorodskoe electric depot.

Construction of the Big Circle Line is the main project of the Moscow Metro construction. Its length will exceed 70 km, and it will accommodate 31 stations, 22 of which are already open to passengers.
