FIRE DETECTORS AT PYKHTINO STATION ON SOLNTSEVSKAYA METRO LINE TO BE HIDDEN FROM PASSENGERS’ EYES

Aspirating smoke fire detectors will be placed under the suspended ceiling panels of the Pykhtino station of the Solntsevskaya metro line extension section, according to Mr. Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction.

The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor for the construction of new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.

“The Pykhtino station will be provided with up-to-date fire-fighting equipment that will ensure a high level of safety for passengers and metro staff. Aspirating detectors will make it possible to timely detect combustion products and transmit the alarm to the operator’s desk”, informed Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.

Deputy mayor clarified that the device consisted of sensors with air intake tubes with air intake holes in them. The incoming air samples are passed through tubes to a special electronic receiver for analysis.

“The engineering equipment is hidden as much as possible from passengers’ eyes, ensuring that the architectural appearance of the station is not disturbed. For example, air-conducting tubes will be located along the platform section behind aluminium suspended ceiling panels, in which holes will be made for conducting air samples”, noted Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.

Mr. Yuri Kravtsov, CEO, Mosinzhproekt JSC, specified that the utilities would be placed under the ceiling on two levels.

“Pipes with cables will be attached directly to the station’s monolithic structures, the aspirating detectors will be mounted on special brackets below, and decorative panels will be placed directly below them”, said Mr. Yuri Kravtsov.

The head of the holding added that ten aircraft turbine-shaped lights would also be placed on the ceiling of the platform area, as the station’s design was dedicated to aircraft construction. The field engineering helped to refine the technical solutions and link the platform’s engineering systems, avoiding conflicts.

Recall that the commissioning of the new Solntsevskaya line section, which includes the Pykhtino station, the Vnukovo Airport station and the metro bridge over the Likova River, will improve transport services in Troitsky and Novomoskovsky Administrative Districts (TiNAO) of Moscow, and Vnukovo will become the first airport in Russia with its own metro station.

Today, Mr. Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, has inspected the construction progress of the Vnukovo Airport station.

“The Solntsevskaya line is still under construction and will reach the Vnukovo station. It is 30 kilometres – one of the longest lines and unique in Moscow, because Moscow citizens will have a great highway from the centre to Vnukovo Airport, an excellent accessibility from the City station to the Vnukovo station, with 40 minutes guaranteed to get directly to the airport terminal from this station. The settlement of Vnukovskoye and neighbouring settlements will get a metro access within walking distance, which is very important for improving the transport situation in the area”, stated Mr. Sergei Sobyanin.
