Metro builders have to complete the last 5 km of tunnels on the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Moscow Metro, said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the government of Moscow on urban policy and the construction Andrey Bochkarev. Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general designer and general contractor to construct new lines and stations of the Moscow metro.
“Currently, tunneling between the stations in the northeastern, western, southwestern, and southern sections of the LCL is completed; about 5 km of tunneling are left to go,” said Andrei Bochkarev.
According to him, to date, the tunnels of the Big Circle Line are 95% complete, while the general construction readiness of the project is estimated at 74%.
“Shield tunneling carry on working on the eastern section. Also, we have to complete the construction of junction lines in Zamoskvoretskoye electric depot and Aminevskoye electric depo designed to serve BCL trains,” explained the Deputy Mayor.
In turn, Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, clarified that the tunneling on the BCL involved the traditional 6-meter shield tunneling and 10-meter giants that lay double-track tunnels.
“Liliya, a giant shield tunneling, is building the tunnel between Klenovy Bulvar metro station and Nagatinsky Zaton metro station, the double-track running line between Pechatniki metro station and Nagatinsky Zaton metro station is being built by Victoria shield tunneling, the section between Klenovy Bulvar metro station and the transfer tunnel near Kashirskaya station is being built by the ten-meter Pobeda complex. The section from Kashirskaya towards Klenovy Bulvar up to the transfer tunnel will be built using six-meter diameter shield tunneling,” said Yury Kravtsov and added that during the construction of the legs of the routes in Zamoskvoretskoye electric depot and Aminevskoye electric depot, six-meter Tunnel Boring Machines are also used.
Recall that earlier, the Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin told about the finish of the last tunneling in the southwest of the BCL.
The Big Circle Line project is the flagship and the most ambitious for the Moscow metro construction. It is assumed that 31 new stations will appear on the 70-km line. It will be the longest underground loop line in the world.
