It will become part of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter
“Construction of the main transverse of the flyover across the Varshavskoye Highway and Kursky suburban railway line (MCD-2) began. This section of the South-Eastern Chord (SEC) from the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD) to the Solntsevo-Butovo-Varshavskoye Highway will be integrated into the Moscow High-Speed Diameter”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.
Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding acts as a general contractor and general designer of several sections of the South-Eastern Chord.
“The utilities are being removed away from the construction zone, and construction of four out of nine supports of the flyover and the five-hundred-metre exit has already started”, specified Andrey Bochkarev.
The Head of Construction Complex reminded, that last year traffic was launched along the overpass through the MCD-2 railway tracks at the section of the South-Eastern Chord from Ryazansky Prospekt to the Third Ring Road (TTK).
Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, clarified that, in addition to the flyover across the Varshavskoye Highway and Kursky suburban railway line, it is planned to build several more man-made structures at the site: a bridge, an elevated road of the main transverse through the designed pass within the area of the residential development “South Bitsa”, an overpass exit from Moscow Ring Road (MKAD) to the Moscow High-Speed Diameter down from the city, an overhead crossing over MKAD near the stop “South TEC”.
“Besides, two tunnels will be created at the site: one under Simferopol highway and a tunnel under the 32nd kilometre of the Moscow Ring Road. The protective screen of the tunnel, which will enable the construction activities to be carried out without restricting traffic along the Ring Road, is completed by three-thirds”, said Yuri Kravtsov.
Earlier, Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, announced about the decision to stitch together the North-Eastern and South-Eastern Chords into a new city highway under a possible name of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter.
“For the millions of car owners, creation of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter will constitute a new transport reality: faster and more comfortable travels from one area of the city to another. Bypassing the center, it will take only 40 minutes to drive through the entire city without a single traffic light”, wrote Sergei Sobyanin in his blog.
