FOUNDATIONS OF THE BRIDGE THREE PILLARS OVER THE BITSA RIVER ARE INSTALLED

The bridge is the part of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter

“In line with construction of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MSD), the activities related to construction of the bridge over the Bitsa River on the section that will run from the Moscow Automobile Ring Road to the Solntsevo-Butovo-Varshavskoye Highway are underway”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general contractor and general designer of a number of sections of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter.

“The pile foundation for three out of five pillars of the bridge has been embedded, and the process areas are being set-up to enable construction of pile foundations for the remaining two pillars”, informed Andrey Bochkarev.

According to the head of the Construction Complex, the road bridge over the Bitsa river will provide traffic along the eight lanes of the main road route of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter with four lanes in each direction, as well as exits to the Moscow Automobile Ring Road and Simferopolskoye Highway.

Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, noted that the road bridge will be 109 metres long and 40 metres wide.

“More than 300 cubic metres of concrete has already been poured on the site”, specified Yuri Kravtsov.

The head of Mosinzhproekt added that the bridge span is going to be installed with the completion of the pillars.

“The reinforced concrete beams of the bridge span are planned to be installed by cranes, followed by the construction of the monolithic slab of the roadway”, specified Yuri Kravtsov.

Earlier, Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, announced about the decision to stitch together the North-Eastern and South-Eastern Chords into a new city highway under a name of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter. According to him, the high-speed diameter will relieve the major highways in Moscow and improve the environmental situation.

“It’s an alternate transport reality. It is to relieve the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, the Third Ring Road, and a huge number of roads that run in the south, east, and north of Moscow and are most heavily congested. It is also an alternate environment: reduction of 20 percent in harmful emissions because there is no overmileage, less traffic jams and so on”, said Sergei Sobyanin.
