INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES HELP TO SOLVE CONFLICTS DURING THE CREATION OF THE BIG CIRCLE LINE OF THE MOSCOW METRO

“Creation of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Moscow Metro facilitates the introduction of advanced digital technologies, such as 3D modelling, in metro construction”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor to build new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.

“The Big Circle Line confirmed the right direction for the digitalisation of the national construction industry. Currently, the metro development programme is being implemented by actively using the latest software systems and cutting edge information technologies”, said Andrey Bochkarev.

Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, explained that the construction of the BCL stations provided invaluable experience in working with high technologies while implementing this major metro construction project.

“When working on the BCL, an important step was taken towards using digital solutions in design and construction work. The 3D models, for example, contain a detailed 3D layout of the station. Thanks to 3D modelling, more than 30,000 conflicts have been identified in advance and eliminated on the Big Circle Line”, said Yuri Kravtsov.

Mikhail Nadot, Deputy General Director for Engineering of Mosinzhproekt JSC, specified that the eastern section of the Big Circle Line was the most ‘digital’.

“3D models have been created for all four stations: Klenovy Bulvar, Nagatinsky Zaton, Pechatniki and Tekstilshchiki”, added Mikhail Nadot. He also specified that the technology enabled to display the completed work in the model.

The creation of the Big Circle Line of the Moscow metro is the main project of the Moscow Metro construction. Its length will exceed 70 km, and it will accommodate 31 stations, 22 of which are already servicing the passengers.
