INSTALLATION OF DOMES OF CHURCH OF ASSUMPTION OF BLESSED VIRGIN MARY STARTED

During the construction of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the construction workers have begun installing the domes, according to Mr. Yuri Kravtsov, CEO, Mosinzhproekt JSC.

The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor of the project.

“The height of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary being constructed in Ostankinsky district of Moscow has exceeded 40 metres, the installation of the domes has started after preparatory work”, noted Mr. Yuri Kravtsov.

According to him, the small drums had been installed beforehand, and the domes were pre-assembled and clad with stainless steel plates with a titanium nitride coating.

“At the same time, following the installation of the base slab, the brickwork of the big drum has been completed, and the monolithic slabs of the second floor and the vault of the central altar apse are complete”, explained Mr. Yuri Kravtsov.

He specified that over 5,100 cubic metres of brickwork and over 2,200 cubic metres of concrete had already been laid on the site.

“The bells of the future church have also been delivered to the site and are scheduled to be installed shortly”, added the head of the engineering holding.

On the occasion of the commencement of the work to erect the domes, His Eminence Matthew, Archbishop of Yegorievsk, Administrator of the North-Eastern Vicariate, conducted a solemn liturgy, during which he expressed his gratitude to the management and staff of the Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies, who were constructing the church.

Recall that the new Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is being erected on the territory of a former industrial zone at the intersection of Berezovaya Alley and Selskokhozyaystvennaya Street in North-Eastern Administrative District of Moscow. It is expected to become one of the largest church complexes in Moscow. The work is being implemented in close cooperation with the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church.
