Installation of escalators in second concourse of Aviamotornaya station of Big Circle Line is complete

Three escalators have been fully assembled in the second concourse of the Aviamotornaya station of the Moscow Metro’s Big Circle Line (BCL), according to Mr. Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction.

The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor for the construction of new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.

“The escalators connect the ticket hall to the underground pedestrian crossing of the second concourse of the Aviamotornaya station. Their inclined tunnel length is 10.5 metres and the length of the escalator run is 22 metres. There will also be a lift in the concourse for handicapped people “, noted Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.

Deputy Mayor specified that the concourse and crossing under construction would allow passengers to reach the Aviamotornaya station from Aviamotornaya and Krasnokazarmennaya Streets.

“The in-situ concreting in the new concourse has been fully completed. In the crossing, the installation of composite water diversion penthouses has begun, which will simultaneously serve as a ceiling and walls, and the granite floor is being laid”, informed Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.

Mr. Yuri Kravtsov, CEO, Mosinzhproekt JSC, added that the design and decoration work was also in progress in the concourse ticket hall. Construction workers install rails on the walls to mount the marble panels. Previously, the hall floor was entirely laid in granite.

“Aviamotornaya and Krasnokazarmennaya Streets are separated from the metro station by the tracks of the Kazansky suburban railway line. At the moment, passengers have to bypass the Entuziastov Highway overpass to enter the station, while the new concourse and railway bed crossing will make their way to the metro much quicker and more convenient”, explained Mr. Yuri Kravtsov.

The head of the engineering holding reminded that the tunnel for the future crossing had been excavated using a tunnelling machine in challenging hydrogeological conditions, without stopping the trains on the railway.

The Aviamotornaya, Elektrozavodskaya and Lefortovo stations are part of the north-eastern BCL section and temporarily operate as part of the Nekrasovskaya metro line. The north-eastern section also includes three new stations, Sokolniki, Rizhskaya and Maryina Roshcha, and a connecting line to the Nizhegorodskoye electric depot.

The construction of the Big Circle Line is the main project of the Moscow Metro construction. Its length will exceed 70 km, and it will accommodate 31 stations, 22 of which are already servicing the passengers.
