The installation of stop pavilions in the Southern Rockade section from Maryinsky Park Street to the Moscow Automobile Ring Road is nearing completion, according to Mr. Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction.
The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general contractor and general designer of a number of the Southern Rockade sections.
“11 out of the 12 ground transport pavilions have been installed on the fourth section of the Southern Rockade. Proyektiruyemiy drive 1 is also being reconstructed and a passageway with a U-turn for public transport is under construction”, said Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.
According to Deputy Mayor, a turnaround is being constructed and the existing utilities are being re-laid at this drive. A navigation pylon and pedestrian barriers are also to be installed here.
Mr. Yuri Kravtsov, CEO, Mosinzhproekt JSC, specified that the construction of motorway and rearrangement of the heating and sewage systems had started at the turnaround area as part of the reconstruction stage of Verkhniye Polya Street.
“The automated traffic control system is being installed on the fourth section of the Southern Rockade, which will monitor weather conditions, pavement quality and control the phasing of traffic lights depending on traffic load”, added Mr. Yuri Kravtsov.
The Southern Rockade will connect the city’s major motorways: the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, Kutuzovsky avenue, Michurinsky avenue, Vernadskogo avenue, Leninsky avenue, Profsoyuznaya Street, Varshavskoye highway, Proletarskiy avenue, Kashirskoye highway, and Lyublinskaya Street.
The new route will be an alternate route of the Moscow Automobile Ring Road and the Third Ring Road, reducing unnecessarily long road journeys, as well as providing access to the M-9 Baltia and M-5 Ural federal highways.
