INSTALLATION OF THE “STARRY SKY” HAS STARTED AT THE KLENOVY BULVAR BCL STATION

All four escalators are assembled

“Installation of architectural lighting in the ticket office and on the platform of the Klenovy Bulvar station of the eastern section of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Moscow Metro has started”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general designer and general contractor to construct new lines and stations of the Moscow metro.

“Finishing work at the Klenovy Bulvar station is at a high degree of readiness. Work is underway in the ticket office where the floor is laid with dark granite, and the walls are marbled. Aluminum honeycomb panels are being installed on the ceiling, and cables are being pulled through to install architectural lighting. The suspended ceiling with lighting fixtures located inside will imitate the starry sky”, said Andrey Bochkarev.

According to him, installation of utilities is also underway at the station and voltage has been supplied to the traction step-down substation for commissioning.

“On Klenovy Bulvar, all four escalators are assembled, being prepared to conduct run-in test and loading tests”, said the head of the Moscow Complex of Urban Planning Policy and Construction.

Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, recalled that the artistic appearance of the station was selected in an open international architectural competition, organized by Mosinzhproekt. The artistic design of the station reflects the architecture of the palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich located nearby in the Museum-reserve Kolomenskoye.

“The main design element of the station’s platform section, the suspended ceiling, reminiscent of the silhouette of the palaces of pre-Petrine Russia, is being installed. It is made of alloyed aluminum with a decorative coating. The mirrored elements used in the finish, complete the image and increase the space visually. Also, the installation of lighting fixtures in all levels – on the walls and under the ceiling of the station ‑ has been started. The main lighting of the two side platforms is provided by the light reflection directed into the dome”, specified Yuri Kravtsov.

The eastern section of the Big Circle Line, which is 11 km long, in addition to Klenovy Bulvar, includes the Nagatinsky Zaton, Pechatniki and Tekstilshchiki stations. Its commissioning will improve the transport accessibility for a number of districts in the south-east of Moscow.

Creation of the Big Circle Line is the principal project of the Moscow Metro construction. It will be more than 70 kilometres long, with 31 stations, 22 of which are already open to passengers.
