Mr. Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, inspected the work progress on the southern section of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MSD), which is located from Grayvoronovskaya Street to Shosseinaya Street.
The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general contractor and general designer of a number of sections of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter.
“The most important road construction megaproject in Moscow this year is the southern direction of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter. This is the section that connects the Moscow Automobile Ring Road (MKAD) and Entuziastov Highway and exits to the main MSD line. The most important section, which will provide better transport accessibility of 22 Moscow districts. The key link in this project is the intersection of Volgogradka road. In fact, this is a very complicated traffic junction with a lot of flyovers,” stated Mr. Sergei Sobyanin, according to the ‘Moskva’ CNA.
One of the most complex sections of the future route is the section from Grayvoronovskaya Street to Shosseinaya Street. It is a six-lane road without traffic lights and about 2 km long, and the most part of it (1.5 km) will pass along the flyover over the Volgogradsky Avenue and the railway tracks of the second route of the Moscow Central Diameters.
Mayor of Moscow added that all MSD sections should have been launched simultaneously.
“We should launch all the sections simultaneously and connect the main MSD course to the southern direction. This will have a great effect on the transport situation in the city”, emphasised Mr. Sergei Sobyanin.
The southern MSD section under construction will connect the major highways of the city: Entuziastov Highway, Ryazansky Avenue, the Third Transport Ring, Volgogradsky Avenue, Shosseinaya Street, Kashirskoye Highway, Kaspiyskaya Street, the Southern Rockade, Podolskikh Kursantov Street and Lipetskaya Street, Moscow Automobile Ring Road with an exit to Troitsky and Novomoskovsky Administrative Districts through the Solntsevo – Butovo – Varshavskoye Highway mainline.
The total length of the southern MSD section will be 28 km. Including the exits, interchanges, and alternate routes, 96 km of roads will be constructed under the project, including 56 artificial structures with a length of 22 km: 36 flyovers, four tunnels, three bridges, and 13 overpasses. In addition, 12 off-street pedestrian crossings will be built.
