MORE THAN 1,000 PEOPLE ARE WORKING ON THE NSC CONSTRUCTION SITE DURING THE MAY HOLIDAYS

The main structures of the complex are 80% complete

“More than 1,000 people are working on the construction of the National Space Center (NSC) building complex during the May holidays”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a managing company for the construction project.

“The construction of the National Space Centre, which is an extremely important facility for the country’s entire space industry, is being carried out around the clock. During the May holidays, more than 1,000 people carry on working on the construction site and 36 units of construction equipment are being used”, informed Andrey Bochkarev.

As the Deputy Mayor noted, the use of a considerable amount of manpower and material resources makes it possible to ensure a high pace of the NSC construction.

“The main structures of the building complex are about 80% complete: 141 thousand cubic metres of concrete have been poured. The cast-in-situ activities continue in the congress and business centre, the underground parking lot and the high-rise section. Excavation is 81% complete and 74% of the metalwork has been installed”, added Andrey Bochkarev.

According to Konstantin Maslakov, General Director of MIP-Stroy 1 (being part of the Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies), 6,5 thousand square metres of roofing has been installed in the low-rise part of the complex, the construction of internal partitions and the installation of utilities are underway.

“The in-situ concreting of 15 storeys is done in the high-rise part of the building. On the 16th floor level of the 288-metre tower, all the vertical structures, walls and columns, are complete and the floor slab is being constructed. To optimise the pace of construction, advanced methods of work organisation are being used and self-climbing hydraulic formwork is being used to construct the high-rise core. All the equipment required for the work is located on a single platform, which moves as the number of floors of the future urban dominant is increasing”, said Konstantin Maslakov.

Recall, the total area of the NSC building complex is more than 250 thousand square metres. All the structures of the National Space Centre: the high-rise and low-rise sections, the congress and business centre and the underground parking lot will be linked to each other by a pedestrian passage.

The National Space Center is being created jointly by the Government of Moscow and the State Space Corporation Roscosmos at the instruction of Vladimir Putin, President of Russia. It will become one of the largest space-industry centers in the world, consolidating the leading organisations of the aerospace sector: the central office and situation centre of the State Space Corporation Roscosmos, sectoral research institutes and enterprises, design-engineering bureaus, and other facilities.
