The landscape creates a comfortable natural environment

“More than 1,500 trees and shrubs have been planted during the reconstruction and landscaping of the Marc Chagall Embankment in the former ZIL industrial zone”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

The project was implemented with the participation of the Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding.

“As part of the reconstruction of the Marc Chagall Embankment in the Danilovsky district, the area has been comprehensively landscaped: trees, shrubs and flowers have been planted, benches have been installed, bike lanes and children’s playgrounds have been arranged. The embankment is open and will become another point of attraction for Muscovites and a promenade area”, said Andrey Bochkarev.

According to the Deputy Mayor, the embankment landscape has been shaped to create a comfortable natural environment and protect visitors from the cold breeze from the river, and the entrance area to the embankment is designed considering residential development and the road network.

“There are 275 trees, around 1,450 shrubs and more than 110 thousand flowers planted on the embankment, with the range of plants selected to suit the topography, soil and groundwater level. They have been selected so that the embankment looks attractive in summer and winter. Two playgrounds with swings, merry-go-rounds and other rides have been arranged”, specified Andrey Bochkarev.

According to Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, 49 benches, 58 park chairs, 28 bicycle parkings and 44 litter bins have been installed on the embankment, a cycle track and a running track with a rubber surface have been equipped.

“The total area of footpaths and pavements lined with granite tiles is about 13,5 thousand square metres. The pavement and footpath network is made mainly of natural materials. The area of flowerbeds was about 66 thousand square metres, and about 5,5 thousand square metres of turf was put and scenic boulders were installed in the forest area of the park”, specified Yuri Kravtsov.

Recall that all Moscow embankments are built according to new regulations, allowing to arrange a quality public area for recreational use, sports activities, and walks by the water.
