Сurrently the preliminary work is carried out
Mosinzhproekt has expressed interest in participating in bidding for the construction of a tunnels system for underground utilities in the city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This was announced by Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, at the «100+ TechnoBuild 2021» Construction Industry International Forum. Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a participant and operator of the key urban development programs of the Russian capital, including the development of the Moscow Metro.
“Among the large-scale world projects in the field of tunneling, a promising project to create a system of backbone sewer tunnels in the city of Dubai is of great interest, and today we are ready to participate in the international contest for its implementation,” said Yuri Kravtsov.
According to him, the project involves the construction of a system of deep-level tunnels in several districts managed by the municipality of Dubai with a total length of 75 km, as well as two large pumping stations — it will modernize the city’s wastewater network and replace more than 100 existing pumping stations that serve it.
“It is planned that the construction of tunnels at a depth from 32 to 110 meters will be carried out using tunnel boring shields with a diameter of 3.5 to 6 meters,” explained the CEO of the holding and added that the collection reservoirs, as well as water conduits of smaller diameter are expected to be performed using remote microtunneling systems.
He also specified that currently the preliminary work is carried out with the partners in Dubai to evaluate the prospects of participation of the holding in the project.
“During ten years of work as an operator of the Moscow Metro development program, the group’s companies have accumulated unique production experience and competence in tunneling considering close-quarter work of one of the largest cities in the world and achieved a high level of technological infrastructure, which allows the holding to implement large-scale projects of underground infrastructure construction of any complexity in our country and potentially abroad as well,” stressed Yuri Kravtsov.
Since its establishment in 1958, Mosinzhproekt has been involved in the development of Moscow’s underground utilities, including the construction of collectors and utility networks. More than 105 kilometers of metro tunnels have been built and commissioned in Moscow with the participation of the engineering holding over the last ten years.
