Maurice Leroy’s expertise significantly influenced the development of the Moscow metropolitan area
According to the leading French newspaper Le Figaro, Maurice Leroy, Vice President for International Relations of Mosinzhproekt JSC, was awarded the title of Knight of the Legion of Honour, the highest French order of merit.
The ceremony will take place on 10 December in Vendôme, a town on the Loire River in central France, where Leroy has been elected as a Member of the French National Assembly five times for 21 years. It is expected that Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will give the award. Le Figaro calls Maurice Leroy one of the best experts on French political affairs.
Maurice Leroy is a permanent resident of Moscow, heading the international relations of Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding since 2019. Leroy was Minister of City Affairs under President Nicolas Sarkozy, served several times as Deputy Speaker of the French National Assembly, and led the Loir-et-Cher region in central France for many years.
Maurice Leroy’s expertise, gained during the development and implementation of the Greater Paris project and other urban development projects in France, significantly influenced the development of the Moscow metropolitan area, including the concept of developing public transport, integrated territorial development, and the development of New Moscow.
The Legion of Honour is the highest and oldest one of the existing French orders of merit, established in 1802. The order is awarded to outstanding military or civilian services by the Decree of the President of France. The order has also been conferred on the distinguished Russian state and political figures, scientists, cultural figures, and businessmen.
