Mr. Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, visited the construction site of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MSD) southern section from the Paveletsky suburban railway line to the Moscow Automobile Ring Road and inspected the highway construction progress.
Mosinzhproekt is a general contractor and general designer of a number of sections of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter.
“This year we are working on the southern direction of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter, which will run from Entuziastov highway to the Moscow Automobile Ring Road. It is one of the most complex road construction urban projects in the world. Currently, all start-up complexes are from 65% to 95% complete. Therefore, there is an opportunity to launch it completely this year. But this requires that all start-up complexes come into operation simultaneously, which is quite difficult, because each of them has its own specific features, characteristics, and problems”, said Mr. Sergei Sobyanin, according to the ‘Moskva’ CNA.
According to Mayor, the southern MSD section will improve the transport situation not only in the South-Eastern and South-Western administrative districts, but also in the entire capital. He recalled that the northern MSD section had been commissioned in 2022.
Mr. Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction, reported to Mr. Sergei Sobyanin that additional equipment and machines were involved in the work.
“We are making every effort, as you said, to complete all construction work this year and prepare it for commissioning”, emphasised Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.
The six-lane road, which is about 4 km long excluding exits to adjacent streets, begins near the track intersection of the Paveletsky suburban railway line and MCD 2, will go further along the tracks of MCD 2, cross Podolskikh Kursantov Street and will reach the Moscow Automobile Ring Road.
The opening of this route will improve transport accessibility of the Tsaritsyno, Chertanovo Tsentralnoye, Chertanovo Yuzhnoye, Biryulyovo Zapadnoye, and Biryulyovo Vostochnoye districts with a total population of more than 630 thousand people.
As part of the section, two flyovers of the main course with a total length of 1.5 km will be constructed, over the railway MCD tracks near the Pokrovskoye station with exits to Dorozhnaya Street, as well as near the Krasny Stroitel station. A 46-metre-long tunnel will be constructed at the intersection with the tracks of the Paveletsky suburban railway line. 844-metre-long noise buffer screens will be installed to reduce the noise level in the area of Pokrovsky Park.
In addition, a reconstruction of the adjacent street and road network is envisaged. A total of 10.4 km of roads will be constructed and reconstructed as part of this project.
The Moscow High-Speed Diameter is one of the capital’s largest road projects of recent years, in which Mosinzhproekt takes part. During its 65-year history the company, which celebrates its anniversary in 2023, took part in the creation of more than 6,000 km of highways, over 100 bridges and flyovers, 300 underground and aboveground pedestrian crossings in Moscow. For example, based on projects developed by the company since 2011, 10 capital’s outbound routes were reconstructed, namely Volgogradsky and Ryazansky Avenues, Dmitrovskoye, Leningradskoye, Kashirskoye, Mozhaiskoye, Volokolamskoye, Varshavskoye, Yaroslavskoye and Entuziastov highways.
