Mr. Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, has opened the third section of the Solntsevo-Butovo-Varshavskoye Highway road, from Borovskoye Highway to Kievskoye Highway.
The road section has been designed by Mosinzhproekt Institute, which is the principal design organisation of the Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies, the operator of Moscow’s key urban planning programmes.
“We are constructing an alternate route of the Moscow Automobile Ring Road from Varshavskoye Highway to Borovskoye Highway in the south and south-west of the city. Earlier, we have launched a section from Kaluzhka to Kievka. We are currently launching a section from Kievka to Borovskoye Highway. The road is ready”, stated Mr. Sergei Sobyanin.
According to him, a section connecting this route to the South-Eastern Chord (the southern section of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter), Butovo and Varshavskoye Highway will also be built in the coming years.
The construction of the section from Borovskoye Highway to Kievskoye Highway started in February 2021 and completed in December 2022, a year ahead of the scheduled date.
It included the construction and reconstruction of 7 km of roads, including a flyover over Borovskoye Highway, a tunnel under Kievskoye Highway, exits to Kievskoye Highway and Borovskoye Highway, side routes and speed change lanes as well as 2 pedestrian underpasses around Novoorlovskaya Street and the Novo-Peredelkino ski slope.
788 metre long sound barriers have been installed near Borovskoe Highway to reduce the noise intensity. Specialists carried out the landscaping and laid utilities.
The opening of the third motorway section from Borovskoye Highway to Kievskoye Highway will enable to complete the creation of a unified transport link from Minskoye Highway to Kaluzhskoye Highway in New Moscow, as well as improve transport services for the residents of Novo-Peredelkino and Solntsevo districts, the settlements of Vnukovskoye and Moskovskiy.
In addition, a modern interchange is planned to be built at the intersection with Novoorlovskaya Street by the end of 2024.
The Solntsevo-Butovo-Varshavskoye Highway road, which is linking the four outbound routes – Borovskoye, Kievskoye, Kaluzhskoye and Varshavskoye Highways – will become an important part of the transport framework of Troitsky and Novomoskovsky districts of the capital, as well as an alternate route of the south-western and southern parts of the Moscow Automobile Ring Road.
