The major part of the frame is ready
“A suspended ceiling structure resembling the silhouette of a dome is being mounted at the Klenovy Bulvar station at the eastern section of the Big Circle Metro Line (BCL)”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.
Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general designer and general contractor to construct new lines and stations of the Moscow metro.
“Architectural and finishing activities are being carried out at the platform section of the Klenovy Bulvar station. The major part of the suspended ceiling frame is already mounted. Plasticity of its vault creates the silhouette of a dome, a traditional element of the Russian architecture. The suspended structure will be mounted along the entire length of the platform section”, said Andrey Bochkarev.
The Head of Construction Complex reminded, that at the end of 2021, driving of the last tunnel of the Big Circle Metro Line (BCL) was completed between the Nagatinsky Zaton and Klenovy Bulvar stations under construction. The tunnel boring machine (TBM) “Liliya” with a diameter of 10 metres drove a double-track tunnel of 1226 metres long.
Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, explained that the design of the Klenovy Bulvar BCL station was selected through an open international architectural contest. Architectural design studio ARCHSLON was declared the winner.
“The Klenovy Bulvar station is located in close proximity to the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve. The Palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich stands out as an iconic figure of the entire ensemble. Its architecture is depicted in the station appearance”, said Yuri Kravtsov.
According to the Head of Engineering Holding, light gray Siberian granite is used for architectural decoration of the Klenovy Bulvar station.
“This stone is used for fit-out of both the floor and walls of the platform. The walls of the ticket hall and pedestrian underpass will be faced with marble”, informed Yuri Kravtsov.
It is noteworthy, that the tradition of holding open international architectural competitions for design of metro stations was resumed upon the initiative of Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin in 2014. At the outcome of competitions, the designs of architectural appearance for 11 stations were selected, of which the Solntsevo and the Novoperedelkino stations on the Solntsevskaya metro line, the Terekhovo and the Mnyovniki stations of the Big Circle Line are already open to passengers.
Construction of the Big Circle Line is the main project of the Moscow Metro construction. Its length will exceed 70 km, and it will accommodate 31 stations, 22 of which are already open to passengers.
