OVERPASS ACROSS KAVKAZSKY BOULEVARD IS MORE THAN HALF-COMPLETED

It will become part of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter

“In the framework of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MCD) development, construction of an overpass across Kavkazsky Boulevard at the eighth section of the South-Eastern Chord (SEC) from Marshal Shestopalov Street to the Paveletsky suburban direction of Moscow Railway is completed by 60%”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general contractor and general designer of a range of sections of the South-Eastern Chord, which will be incorporated into the Moscow High-Speed Diameter.

“All 88 piles are embedded in concrete, two out of three support pillars of the overpass are built, and 14 beams of the superstructure are already mounted between the first and the second pillar. The work is also in progress in line with embedding the third pillar in concrete”, said Andrey Bochkarev.

The Deputy Mayor specified that the design of the eighth section of the SEC also involves construction of four underground crosswalks in the vicinity of Bekhterev Street. One of them is already completed, with three others being under construction.

Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, clarified that the length of the overpass of the main course of the SEC across Kavkazsky Boulevard will be 63 metres long and 17 metres wide, it will have four lanes, with two traffic lanes going in each direction.

In addition to the overpass across Kavkazsky Boulevard, three more overpasses are being built at the eighth section of the SEC: across Kantemirovskaya street, the Gorodnya River, and the Kotlyakovsky Creek.

“The overpass across the Kotlyakovsky Creek is completed by three-quarters: all the beams of the superstructure are installed, filling with concrete of the joints of the reinforced concrete structures is accomplished, and the banisters are already half-done”, specified the head of Mosinzhproekt.

Earlier, Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, announced about the decision to stitch together the North-Eastern and South-Eastern Chords into a new city highway under a possible name of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter. Completion of the expressway is estimated at 62%.

“For the millions of car owners, creation of the Moscow High-SpeedDiameter will constitute a new transport reality: faster and more comfortable travels from one area of the city to another. Bypassing the centre, it will take only 40 minutes to drive through the entire city without a single traffic light”, wrote Sergei Sobyanin in his blog.
