Installation of the safety fence is near to completion
“Construction of the overpass across the Gorodnya River on the eighth section of the South-Eastern Chord from Marshal Shestopalov Street to the Paveletsky suburban railway line is being completed as part of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter development”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.
Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general contractor and general designer of a range of sections of the South-Eastern Chord, which will be incorporated into the Moscow High-Speed Diameter.
“The 300-metre overpass is split into two parts: the right and the left one, for each direction of the main course of the highway. Currently, installation of the safety fence of the superstructure is nearly completed”, said the Deputy Mayor.
He specified that the design of the eighth section of the SEC also implies construction of four underground crossings in the vicinity of Bekhterev Street. One of them is already completed, with three others being under construction.
Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, clarified that in the course of the overpass construction, a section of the Gorodnya River was enclosed in a pipe-culvert of 148 metres in length and 2.4 metres in diameter.
“At the eighth section of the South-Eastern Chord, the construction of three more overpasses is in progress: across Kotlyakovsky Creek, Kantemirovskaya Street and Kavkazsky Boulevard. Overall completion of the site is 60%”, said Yuri Kravtsov.
Earlier, Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, announced about the decision to stitch together the North-Eastern and South-Eastern Chords into a new city highway under a possible name of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter. Completion of the expressway is estimated at 62%.
“For the millions of car owners, creation of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter will constitute a new transport reality: faster and more comfortable travels from one area of the city to another. Bypassing the centre, it will take only 40 minutes to drive through the entire city without a single traffic light”, wrote Sergei Sobyanin in his blog.
