PUBLIC SPACE APPEARS ON ROOF OF PYKHTINO STATION OF SOLNTSEVSKAYA METRO LINE

A recreation zone for local residents, passengers and metro workers will be created on the roof of the platform section of the Pykhtino station under construction of the Solntsevskaya metro line, according to Mr. Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction.

The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor for the construction of new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.

“The new public space is located above the ground-level platform and visitors will be able to get here bypassing the ground concourse of the Pykhtino station. The area will be paved with granite tiles in light grey and dark shades. There will be flowerbeds and benches arranged around the five ventilation kiosks coming to the surface”, stated Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.

According to Deputy Mayor, the public space would end near the locomotive crew recreation building, which is part of the Pykhtino station complex. The building also provides access to the site.

Mr. Yuri Kravtsov, CEO, Mosinzhproekt JSC, specified that the future public space would offer a view of the Likova River valley and the surrounding natural landscapes.

“The project includes the creation of convenient staircases and a path network leading from the platform on the station roof to the recreational area being established on the bank of the Likova River”, added Mr. Yuri Kravtsov.

The head of the engineering holding also informed that the Pykhtino station would have a view of the surrounding landscape directly from the station – a stained-glass window would be installed on one of the tunnel walls.

The commissioning of the Solntsevskaya Line new section, which includes the Pykhtino station, the Vnukovo station and the metro bridge over the Likova River, will improve transport services in Troitsky and Novomoskovsky Administrative Districts (TiNAO) of Moscow, and Vnukovo will become the first airport in Russia with its own metro station.
