The wastewater treatment facilities are under construction

“The reconstruction of Donetskaya Street is more than 50% complete during the construction of the Southern Rockade”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction. Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is the general contractor and general designer of several sections of the Southern Rockade.

“Currently, the two-lane 326 m long section of the main road and the four-lane 435 m long section of the embankment have been reconstructed, and the wastewater treatment facilities are under construction,” said the head of the Moscow Complex of Urban Planning Policy and Construction.

According to him, the construction of the access road and the parking and terminus with the aboveground public transport station is currently in progress.

“The construction of the terminus station of Mosgortrans state unitary enterprise’s routes is 60% complete, the devices for recharging electric buses have already been installed,” explained the Deputy Mayor.

For his part, Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, added that the alteration of utility services is three quarters complete.

“In the area of Donetskaya Street, the old overhead line was dismantled and a new 110 kV overhead line Kuryanovo-Saburovo has been installed, which is 1,246 meters long. More than one third runs over the Moskva River. Now, the line has already been switched over and is operating normally, while the final urban land improvement is being completed,” said Yuri Kravtsov.

The Southern Rockade is part of Moscow’s new chord system of highways along with the South-Eastern, North-Eastern, and North-Western Chords. The Rockade will connect the capital’s major motorways: the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, Kutuzovsky Prospekt, Michurinsky Prospekt, Prospekt Vernadskogo, Leninsky Prospekt, Profsoyuznaya Street, Varshavskoye Shosse, Proletarsky Prospekt, Kashirskoye Shosse, and Lublinskaya Street.

The creation of a chord system of highways is the main project for the modern development of the capital’s road and transport framework. The chords will make straight access to the remote areas of the city, reducing the overall load on the street and road network of the central districts, the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, and the TTR. Currently, 65% of the sections of the chorded highway system have been put into operation.
