The construction readiness of the road bridge at ZIL is estimated to be 80%, according to Mr. Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction.
The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general contractor for the facility construction.
“The work to lower the bridge span to its final position is underway. Earlier, the construction workers had completed the assembling and launching of the central span, with a total length of more than 290 metres. The metalwork is being lowered step by step to the design marks on the permanent supporting structures while all the temporary supporting structures are being dismantled”, noted Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.
The head of the Moscow Construction Complex added that the construction part of the facility would have been completed by early summer.
“Once the main structure is completed, it is planned to begin the installation of barrier railings, the arrangement of roadbed and the exterior lighting”, added Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.
According to Mr. Konstantin Maslakov, Director General of MIPSTROY 1 (the leading construction division of the Mosinzhproekt GC), the retaining walls and seven of the nine piers were finished at the site.
“The last two piers, which were involved specifically in the span launching, are being completed: the foundation is ready and the preparations for supports and pier caps concreting are underway. The pier cap is one of the most important elements of the bridge. It is a monolithic slab that connects the piers and takes the load of the span”, informed Mr. Konstantin Maslakov.
The Head of MIPSTROY 1 also added that the roadbed of access roads on both sides of the bridge was fully complete. The re-laying of electrical networks and the arrangement of rainwater drainage, communication networks and water pipeline are underway.
Recall that the bridge construction is a part of the transport framework development project in the territory of the former Likhachev factory. The bridge will connect the ZIL complex development territories and improve the transport accessibility of the new residential areas. The bridge will also link the Simonovskaya Embankment under construction with Yuzhnoportoviy district, which will unload the Third Ring Road (TRR), Varshavskoye Highway and Andropova Avenue.
