RUNNING LINE FROM VAVILOVSKAYA TO NOVATORSKAYA ON THE CENTRAL SECTION OF THE TROITSKAYA METRO LINE HAS BEEN COMPLETED

“The ‘Lyudmila’ tunnel boring machine has completed tunnelling between the prospective Vavilovskaya and Novatorskaya stations on the Troitskaya metro line which is now under construction”, posted Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, on his social media.

Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor to build new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.

“The 6-metre-diameter ‘Lyudmila’ tunnel boring machine has covered the 1407-metre-long left running tunnel between the Vavilovskaya and Novatorskaya stations of the Troitskaya metro line”, said Andrey Bochkarev.

The head of the Construction Complex recalled that the “Svetlana” TBM completed tunnelling of the nearby tunnel a month ago, as a result, the Vavilovskaya – Novatorskaya running line has been completed.

Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, added that the new tunnel between the prospective Vavilovskaya and Novatorskaya stations was located under the driveway of Leninsky Prospekt.

“The ‘Lyudmila’ TBM was tunnelling in soil of fine and dusty sand alternating with soil of semi-solid loam with a mixture of crushed rock. The work was carried out at a depth of 10 to 20 metres”, emphasised Yuri Kravtsov.

The head of the engineering holding specified that the “Lyudmila” TBM has tunnelled 10,633 metres in Moscow in total, including the last tunnel. It has previously made three tunnellings: from Novogireevo to Novokosino on the Kalininskaya Line, and from Lomonosovskiy Prospekt to Park Pobedy and from Govorovo to Solntsevo on the Solntsevskaya Line.

The Troitskaya metro line, being 40 km long, will connect the platforms of the Moscow Central Circle (MCC) with the city district of Troitsk, going through the Southern, South-Western, Troitsky and Novomoskovsky districts of the capital city. The expected daily passenger traffic flow is somewhat 100 thousand people. About 1 million people live near the new stations, and several hundred thousand more work or study nearby.
