SERGEI SOBYANIN CONDUCTED A TECHNICAL LAUNCH OF THE BCL SECTION FROM ELEKTROZAVODSKAYA TO SAVYOLOVSKAYA

“The construction of the north-eastern section of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Moscow Metro is being completed”, said Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow.

Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor to build new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.

“The construction of the Big Circle Line has entered its final stage. Today, we are launching the north-eastern section. This is a trial run. This is one of the most challenging sections in the history of metro construction. In the near future, before the end of the year, we will have technical launches of the eastern and southern sections. We will have to prepare nine metro stations and 11 running tunnels for launching. In addition, the two largest electric depots will have to be completed and launched to operate the entire BCL complex”, said Sergei Sobyanin, reports AGN “Moskva”.

He added that all three new sections of the BCL will be launched simultaneously in 2023.

The length of the north-eastern BCL section, Elektrozavodskaya – Savyolovskaya, is 7.2 km. The section consists of three stations – Sokolniki, Rizhskaya and Maryina Roshcha – the latter two are deep-laid stations that were constructed in the most difficult deep bore tunnelling method.

During the technical launch of the new metro section, a test electric train operated without passengers. The technical launch allows you to test the operability of automatic control, remote control and train control devices, as well as electric traction network, train and centralised radio control. The station’s life support system is also being checked for proper functioning. The test results will be followed by work on the rectification of the identified faults and the adjustment of the utilities and devices at the stations and in the tunnels.

The new stations will improve transport services for around 900 thousand people, around 250 thousand of whom live within walking distance of the metro. The daily commuting time around the city for locals will be reduced up to 77%.

Creation of the Big Circle Line is the principal project of the Moscow Metro construction. Its length will exceed 70 km, and it will accommodate 31 stations, 22 of which are already open to passengers.
