“The construction of the Nizhegorodskoye electric depot of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Moscow Metro is in its final phase”, said Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow.
Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor to build new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.
“In a few months, the construction of the Big Circle Line is coming to an end, and a huge infrastructure is required for its commissioning and efficient operation. As you know, we are erecting a huge Aminyevskoye electric depot in the west and Nizhegoroskoye electric depot in the east. This is also a big depot, one of the biggest. About 30 metro trains will be able to enter the depot at once”, said Sergei Sobyanin during the inspection of the construction work of the main start-up complex of the electric depot, reports AGN “Moscow”.
According to him, the depot will be located on the territory of the former Moscow Plant for Modernization and Construction of Carriages and Cars named after Voytovich. He also emphasised the uniqueness of the selected location where the depot was being built.
“It is located within the boundaries of the Third Ring Road. The electric depots have not been built so close to the city centre in Moscow in 70 years. This is dictated by the inherent launching of the BCL”, specified Sobyanin.
The construction of the electric depot began in 2015. Initially, construction of the first phase of the depot’s administrative and amenity building was completed. The second phase of the main start-up complex is currently under construction: a stabling and maintenance building with workshops, a motor depot, a rolling stock washing room, a maintenance personnel building, and other facilities. The depot will have a total length tracks of more than 13 km, including the connecting line. The total area of all the buildings will be 118,000 square metres.
