SOUTHERN ROCKADE WILL RELIEVE THE RING ROADS IN THE SOUTH OF MOSCOW

“Southern Rockade is under construction in Moscow. It will become an alternative to the Moscow Automobile Ring Road and the Third Ring Road in the south and south-east of the city”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is the general contractor and general designer of several sections of the Southern Rockade.

“Within the framework of the Southern Rockade project, works are being carried out at four sections: construction of the road network from Kaspiyskaya Street to the 1st Kotlyakovsky Lane, reconstruction of Verkhnie Polya Street from Maryinsky Park Street to the Moscow Automobile Ring Road and reconstruction of Donetskaya Street from Podolskaya Street to Kuryanovskaya Embankment, and also transport interchange at the Moscow Automobile Ring Road with Verkhnie Polya and Kapotnya Streets”, said Andrey Bochkarev.

According to him, four of the eight sections of the highway are already complete: from Rublyovskoye Shosse to Proletarskiy Prospekt.

Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, noted that the holding’s experts are involved in three sections.

“Metal structures of the spans of seven overpasses are being installed at the section from Kaspiyskaya Street to 1st Kotlyakovsky Lane, and the installation of retaining walls, a rainwater drainage system, a heating system and pedestrian overpasses is underway”, specified the head of the engineering holding.

According to Kravtsov, work is underway on the section from Maryinskiy Park Street to the Moscow Automobile Ring Road to construct a rainwater drainage system, relocate the heating networks and reconstruct the cable lines. As part of the reconstruction of Donetskaya Street, the construction of sewage treatment plants and the terminus building, and laying of utilities are underway.

The Southern Rockade is part of the new transport framework of Moscow, along with the Moscow High-Speed Diameter and the North-Western Chord. The Rockade will connect the city’s major motorways: the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, Kutuzovsky Prospekt, Michurinsky Prospekt, Prospekt Vernadskogo, Leninsky Prospekt, Profsoyuznaya Street, Varshavskoye Shosse, Proletarsky Prospekt, Kashirskoye Shosse, and Lyublinskaya Street.
