STATIONS IN THE SOUTH-WEST OF THE BIG CIRCLE LINE WERE BUILT IN A DENSE URBAN ENVIRONMENT

This entire scope of work was carried out by a total of about 4,000 builders

“Work on the construction of the Michurinsky Prospekt station and the Prospekt Vernadskogo station of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Moscow Metro was carried out in dense urban development”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction. Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general designer and general contractor to construct new lines and stations of the Moscow metro.

“The Michurinsky Prospekt station and the Prospekt Vernadskogo station are located in densely populated areas in the south-west of the capital, so the builders have done a lot of work in relocating existing utilities and laying out new ones,” said Andrey Bochkarev.

From his part, Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, specified that about one and a half million linear meters of cables, almost 70 thousand linear meters of pipes, over 20 thousand linear meters of air ducts, and also over 113 thousand cubic meters of concrete has been laid at all three stations of the south-west section of the BCL (Aminyevskaya, Michurinsky Prospect, and Prospect Vernadskogo).

“This entire scope of work was carried out by a total of about 4,000 builders,” explained the holding head.

The south-west section of the BCL will improve transport services for the residents of the Ochakovo-Matveevskoye, Ramenki and Prospekt Vernadskogo districts, allowing them to reduce their commuting time in the city by 10-15 minutes and bypassing congested central stations and transfer hubs. The environmental situation in the districts will also be improved by reducing the volume of traffic, including along Aminyevskoye Shosse, Udaltsova Street, Michurinsky Prospekt, and Vernadskogo Prospekt.

Earlier today, Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, conducted the technical launch of a section of the Big Circle Line from Davydkovo to Prospekt Vernadskogo. “In fact, this is the last stage before the commissioning of passenger services. In the near future we have to make a technical launch of the southern section and thus, to launch the largest section which is about 10 metro stations, as part of the Western, South-Western and Southern sections of the BCL,” said the Mayor of Moscow.

The Big Circle Line project is a key project in the capital’s metro development programme. There will be 31 stations along 70 km, making the BCL the largest underground circle in the world.
