STATIONS OF THE BIG CIRCLE LINE HAVE BECOME THE BACKBONE OF THE MNYOVNIKOVSKAYA FLOODPLAIN TRANSPORT FRAMEWORK

“Opening of the two stations of the Big Circle Line (BCL) – Mnyovniki and Terekhovo – has become a major step in improving transport accessibility of the developing Mnyovnikovskaya floodplain area”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is the general designer and general contractor to construct new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro, as well as the operator for a number of major urban planning projects (MUPP) in Moscow.

“The Big Circle Line has made it possible to provide the Mnyovnikovskaya floodplain area with the metro, which is the most popular urban transport. And the commissioning of the Mnyovniki and Terekhovo BCL stations has become a major milestone on the way towards implementation of a large-scale project to integrate the floodplain into the urban transport network”, informed Andrey Bochkarev.

The Deputy Mayor recalled that two stations were opened last year: the Mnyovniki station was opened to passengers in the northern part of the floodplain in April, and the Terekhovo station was opened in the southern part in December 2021.

“The design of both stations was selected during the open international architectural competition organized by Mosinzhproekt GC. Muscovites themselves can appreciate the distinctive look of Mnyovniki and Terekhovo. In future, the stations will be used by visitors to the sports and recreational clusters being formed, and those who will live and work in the Mnyovnikovskaya floodplain”, emphasised Andrey Bochkarev.

Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, recalled that the 350-hectare area would be used for residential, public and administrative and business development, and social infrastructure facilities.

“The design of the road network with a total length of about 11.7 kilometres, which will be linked with the North-West Chord, in particular, is now underway. Two road bridges are also being created to connect the northern part of the floodplain to the Filevsky Park area, near Myasischeva Street and Novozavodskaya Street. In the south of the floodplain, two cyclist and pedestrian arch bridges will connect the developing area with both Filevsky Park and Krylatskoye”, said Yuri Kravtsov.

According to the head of the engineering holding, the architectural concepts for the bridges have already been approved. Two road bridges are in the design phase, and preparation of the projects for two cyclist and pedestrian bridges will start before the end of the year.

The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies acts as an operator for a number of major urban planning projects in Moscow, such as the Mnyovnikovskaya floodplain, the vacated territory of M.V. Khrunichev Space Center, as well as the Kommunarka ABC in New Moscow. The total area of the facilities scheduled for construction exceeds 12 million square metres.

Creation of the Big Circle Line is the principal project of the Moscow Metro construction. Its length will exceed 70 km, and it will accommodate 31 stations, 22 of which are already open to passengers. The Big Circle Line will link the existing and prospective lines of the Moscow Metro.
