It’s designed to maintain the rolling stock of the Zamoskvoretskaya metro line
The construction of the stabling and repair building has begun as part of the main construction phase of the Yuzhnoye electric depot, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.
Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is the operator of the Moscow Metro Development Program.
“The electric depot is designed to maintain the rolling stock of the Zamoskvoretskaya metro line. The area of the stabling and repair building will be 38,000 square metres,” said Andrey Bochkarev.
According to him, the zero cycle monolithic reinforced concrete structures are now under construction.
“The installation of the metal frame of the future building has also started”, the Deputy Mayor added.
According to Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, the arrangement of bored piles and excavation work is being carried out to prepare the base of the underground part of the administration and service building.
“The preconstruction is being completed at the same time, and the existing utility lines of heat supply network and water pipeline are being removed from the construction site,” said Yuri Kravtsov.
He added that general construction work on most industrial buildings and utility services would begin once they are complete.
The Yuzhnoye electric depot, which is under construction, will serve the trains of the Green Line. A total of 33 buildings and structures for various industrial purposes will be erected on an area of 13.6 hectares.
The electric depot is an important part of the metro network development. They ensure an uninterrupted operation of both operating and new lines of the Moscow Metro. 11 electric depots have been built and reconstructed in Moscow with the participation of Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding in the last 10 years. Four more new depots are currently under construction.
