The eighth section of the South-East Chord is nearly half-ready

The eighth section of the South-East Chord (YVCh-8) from Marshala Shestopalova Street to Paveletsky direction of Moscow Railways is 45% ready, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction. Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general contractor and general designer of several sections of the South-East Chord.

“The work on the eighth section of the South-East Chord is 45% complete. In particular, the site has completed work on the reconstruction of power lines, currently disconnected transmission line poles and high-voltage electric wires are being dismantled,” said Andrey Bochkarev.

The Deputy Mayor pointed out that there would be four overpasses on the site. For example, the overpass on the approach to the tunnel under the Paveletsky suburban railway line is already 75% ready.

“On the other overpass, located along the Kavkazsky Boulevard, the territory clearance and reconstruction of utilities is completed, the pile foundation of the deck bridge pillars has been started,” added Andrey Bochkarev.

For his part, Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, explained that the over-head roads spanning Kantemirovskaya Street are constructed: between 4 and 7 pillars the right spanning structure has already been concreted, and soon will start concreting the left. Also, the construction of pillars and retaining walls of the overpass over Kotlyakovsky Ruchei near Bekhterev Street is being completed, the builders will soon begin assembling beams of the over-head road structure.

“In the area of Bekhtereva Street there will be four underpasses, finishing of one of them is already completed, another one is in the active construction phase — more than 70% of the structure is concreted, the utilities network is relocated at the other two,” said the head of engineering holding, adding that the project of the eighth section of the South-East Chord provides for the creation of two sewage treatment facilities.

“At the sewage treatment facilities, the construction work of the enclosing structures of the wall in the ground has been completed, the opening and loosening of pits have begun,” noted the head of Mosinzhproekt.

The key megaproject for the development of Moscow’s road and transport framework is the creation of an expressway chord system. Chords will connect peripheral areas of the city, lessening the load on the street and road network in the center, as well as on the Moscow Automobile Ring Road and the Third Ring Road.

Since 2011, more than 1050 km of roads have been built and reconstructed in Moscow. This is a quarter of the total amount of street and road network of the city. 308 artificial structures and over 260 crosswalks have been built. Mosinzhproekt Holding participates in the implementation of the key road projects in Moscow.
