THE FINISHING OF THE PLATFORMS OF THE KLENOVY BULVAR STATION IS NEARLY COMPLETE

The platform will be finished with Siberian granite

“Finishing work is underway on the platform section of the Klenovy Bulvar station under construction on the eastern section of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Moscow Metro. The cladding of the floor and track walls is nearly complete”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general designer and general contractor to construct new lines and stations of the Moscow metro.

“The Klenovy Bulvar station has two side platforms where the flooring and wall cladding are implemented in light grey Siberian granite. The finishing work is more than 80% complete on one of the platforms, and the second platform is nearly complete”, informed Andrey Bochkarev.

According to the Deputy Mayor, cladding is also being carried out on the interchanges between platforms, where marble is used in addition to granite. This material will also be used for cladding of the station’s ticket office.

Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, added that the cutting-edge materials are used to implement the architectural and finishing work on the platform, the escalator zone and the concourses of Klenovy Bulvar.

“Honeycomb panels, which are lightweight and resistant to high stress, are manufactured at a plant in Moscow. In particular, the suspended ceiling of the platform hall is being mounted from such panels, 1/5 of the work has been completed”, said Yuri Kravtsov.

The head of the Engineering Holding specified that the suspended ceiling along the entire platform section resembles the silhouette of a dome. The artistic appearance of the Klenovy Bulvar station reflects the architecture of the palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich located nearby in the Museum-reserve Kolomenskoye. The station design was selected during the open international architectural competition run by Mosinzhproekt. Architectural design studio ARCHSLON was announced as the winner.

Recall, the station is more than 70% complete. The entire eastern section of the Big Circle Line of the Moscow Metro is 72% complete.

In addition to Klenovy Bulvar, the section, about 11 km long, comprises the stations of Pechatniki, Nagatinsky Zaton and Tekstilshchiki. Opening of the section will improve the transport accessibility for a number of districts in the south-east of Moscow.
