The reconstruction of high-voltage cable lines is almost complete
“The reconstruction of high-voltage cable lines is nearly complete on the first section of the Southern Rockade, from Kaspiyskaya Street to the 1st Kotlyakovsky Lane, in parallel with the construction of a major transport interchange”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.
Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is the general contractor and general designer of several sections of the Southern Rockade and the South-Eastern Chord (SEC).
“In the south of Moscow, the construction of the section of the Southern Rockade from Kaspiyskaya Street to the 1st Kotlyakovsky Lane is underway. Currently, the first section of the Southern Rockade is 40% complete,” informed Andrey Bochkarev.
According to the Deputy Mayor, a major traffic interchange is under construction on the site, which will link the Southern Rockade with the South-Eastern Chord.
“7 two-kilometre long overhead roads are to be built as part of the project. 10 of the 14 piers of the overhead road along the main traverse of Kantemirovskaya Street from the intersection with Proletarskiy Prospekt have already been erected, and 12 out of the 15 piers of the overhead road at the Kantemirovskay Street exit to the SEC have been installed,” specified Andrey Bochkarev.
According to Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, over 120 km of high-voltage cable lines (HVCL) have been nearly reconstructed at the site.
“Dismantling of aerial cable poles and their foundations is nearly complete. Three shunt reactors have also been installed as part of the re-equipment of the HVCL,” said Yuri Kravtsov.
The Southern Rockade is part of Moscow new system of chord highways along with the South-Eastern Chord, North-Eastern Chord (NEC), and North-Western Chord (NWC). The route will run from the Rublevskoye Highway crossing with the Moscow Automobile Ring Road to Verkhniye Polya Street in Kapotnya.
The creation of a system of chord highways is a key project for the development of the road and transportation framework in Moscow. The chords will make straight access to the remote areas of the city, reducing the overall load on the street and road network of the central districts, the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, and the Third Ring Road. Currently, 65% of the sections of the chorded highway system have been put into operation.
