Work is continuing on developing the interchange between the Prospekt Vernadskogo of the Sokolnicheskaya Line and the Big Circle Line (BCL) of Moscow Metro, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor for Urban Development and Construction of Moscow. Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is the managing company to construct new lines and stations of Moscow Metro.
“The design of the existing Prospekt Vernadskogo metro station of the red line was laid with a special chamber to integrate future-oriented metro lines. At the moment, the cast-in-situ structures of the future interchange are being constructed in this very chamber,” explained Andrey Bochkarev.
Therefore, he said, a total of 400 cubic meters of concrete is totally planned to lay in the interchange area.
Above the platform on the Prospekt Vernadskogo station of the Big Circle Line, the designers have provided balconies that passengers can use as a pass to the interchange zone to the Sokolnicheskaya Line. The total length of the underground crosswalk between the stations will be about 70 meters,” the Deputy Mayor also said.
Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, specified that routing of utilities is being carried out.
“The next stage will be the technological opening in the passenger area of the operating metro and the construction of flights of stairs in the middle of the platform section of the station on the Sokolnicheskaya Line that passengers will use to change,” the head of the holding added.
Recall, earlier it was reported that the section of the Sokolnicheskaya Line between the Sportivnaya station and the Troparevo station is temporarily closed due to the need to integrate utilities of the Prospekt Vernadskogo station of the BCL under construction and the same name station of the red line.
The Big Circle Line is the key Moscow Metro construction project, its length will be 70 km with 31 stations, 12 of which are already open to passengers. It will be the longest underground loop line in the world.
