It has two above-ground and five underground floors
“The multi-level structure of the Michurinsky Prospekt station of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Metro is primarily due to dense surrounding buildings”, said Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC.
Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general designer and general contractor to construct new lines and stations of the Moscow metro.
“Since the Michurinsky Prospekt station of the Big Circle Line is located in a dense urban development, with an abundance of utilities, the design solutions and technology were applied, enabling to place all the necessary equipment for its operation on seven different levels,” said Yuri Kravtsov.
According to him, the station has five underground levels and a two-storey above-ground concourse from which it is possible to transfer from the Big Circle Line to the same name station of the Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya Line.
This structure has required the installation and linking of many engineering systems. This work was carried out by employees of MIP-Stroy No. 1, LLC, a subsidiary of Mosinzhproekt JSC, jointly with subcontracting organizations.
“In total, more than 17,500 pieces of equipment have been installed at the Michurinsky Prospekt station. More than 22,200 metres of piping and about 600,000 metres of cable have been laid. More than 7,700 metres of air ducts have been installed,” said Konstantin Maslakov, General Director of MIP-Stroy No. 1, LLC.
The opening of the BCL Michurinskiy Prospekt station enables to relieve the central interchange hubs of the Moscow metro, the adjacent sections of the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line and the Sokolnicheskaya Line. Traffic on the adjacent sections of the road network is also reduced.
It is noteworthy that launch into operation of the ten stations of the Big Circle Line: Terekhovo, Kuntsevskaya, Davydkovo, Aminyevskaya, Michurinskiy Prospekt, Prospekt Vernadskogo, Novatorskaya, Vorontsovskaya, Zyuzino, and Kakhovskaya, is the largest one-time launch in the history of the Moscow Metro.
The construction of the Big Circle Line is the main project of the Moscow Metro construction. Its length will exceed 70 km, and it will accommodate 31 stations, 22 of which are already servicing the passengers.
