“On the eve of the 64th anniversary of Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies, tunneling between the Akademicheskaya and Krymskaya stations of the Troitskaya Line has started”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.
Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor to construct the new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.
“The launch of the ‘Natalia’ tunnel boring machine took place on the eve of the anniversary of the founding of Mosinzhproekt, which today participates in implementing the key urban planning programmes in Moscow, in particular, in the important task of integrating new territories of Moscow into the city’s transport framework by creating a new radial metro line”, said Andrey Bochkarev.
According to him, the tunnel route will run along Dmitry Ulyanov Street to Novocheryomushkinskaya Street, then along Bolshaya Cheryomushkinskaya Street to 5th Zagorodny Proyezd, crossing Sevastopolsky Avenue and the operating MCC platform.
Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, specified that the six-metre-long TBM would construct the left running tunnel from Akademicheskaya to Krymskaya, which was over 2.2 km long, in soil of silty sand with sandstone.
“The tunneling will take place at a depth of about 20 metres. Previously, ‘Natalia’ was involved in the construction of the tunnels of the Solntsevskaya Line and the Big Circle Line of the Moscow Metro”, specified Yuri Kravtsov.
He also recalled that Mosinzhproekt GC was building tunnels and stations at two sections of the Troitskaya Line. Tunneling on the section from the Novatorskaya to Kommunarka with five stations has been completed, and the arrangement of the tunnels is underway.
“Both tunnels of the Vavilovskaya – Novatorskaya running line have recently been completed on the central section of the line under construction, and four more TBMs are currently working on the Troitskaya Line, two of which cover the route between ZIL and Krymskaya, while the other two connect Vavilovskaya and Akademicheskaya via tunnels. The active construction work on all four station complexes, ZIL, Krymskaya, Akademicheskaya and Vavilovskaya, has also started”, said the head of the engineering holding.
The prospective Troitskaya Line, which is about 40 km long, will link the platforms of the Moscow Central Circle (MCC) with the urban district of Troitsk, passing through the South, Southwest, Troitskiy and Novomoskovskiy Districts of Moscow. About one million people live near the new stations, and several hundred thousand more work or study nearby.
Recall that the history of the Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies began on 28 October 1958 since the founding of the same name design institute. Mosinzhproekt’s employees have been involved in the creation of many engineering infrastructure facilities and objects of road network. As of 2011, the Group of Companies is one of the participants in the key urban planning programmes in Moscow, including the construction of new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.
Mosinzhproekt GC is one of the largest engineering holdings in Russia, included in the List of backbone organisations of the Russian economy in the construction, housing and utilities sector, the leader in leading sectoral rankings and the winner of prestigious national and international awards.
