THE NIZHEGORODSKOYE DEPOT IS 70% READY

Employees will be provided with comfortable areas for work and leisure

“The overall construction completion of the Nizhegorodskoye electric depot facilities to maintain trains of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Moscow Metro is estimated to be over 70%”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general designer and general contractor to construct new lines and stations of the Moscow metro.

“Work on construction of the Nizhegorodskoye electric depot, which will maintain trains on the Big Circle Line, is deployed on the territory of the former Voitovich rail-car repair plant. The area of 17 hectares will house more than 50 buildings and structures. The overall construction completion of the facility is estimated to be over 70%”, said Andrey Bochkarev.

According to the Deputy Mayor, the construction process of the depot is divided into several stages implemented as the unused structures are demolished and the sites are cleared for construction. Construction of the administrative and amenity building within the first stage has already been completed. In parallel, the second, third, fourth and fifth stages are underway.

“The buildings of the electric depot will be fully modern equipped to enable a high quality maintenance of rolling stocks. Current and overhaul repair of cars, overnight layover and train washing will be carried out here. Employees will be provided with comfortable areas for work and leisure, and a sports ground and parking for personal vehicles. The commissioning of the depot will create around 850 new jobs”, emphasized Andrey Bochkarev.

According to Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, the construction of power facilities and utilities as part of the second stage of the Nizhegorodskoye electric depot construction is nearly complete.

“At the same time, the third stage is being carried out, including the main production facilities of the future electric depot: a stabling and repair building with production workshops, a maintenance personnel building, a motor depot and signalling control”, specified Yuri Kravtsov.

The head of the holding also noted that the construction of the ground connecting line with the railway infrastructure of the Russian Railways at Moskva-Tovarnaya-Kurskaya platform, envisaged by the fourth stage of the work, is 50% complete. A new checkpoint to the depot’s territory, being built within the fifth stage, is more than two-thirds complete.

“Shortly, we are going to start setting up sites for the storage of electric switch mechanisms, material transshipping, storage of solid household waste, a sports field and parking for private vehicles”, emphasized Yuri Kravtsov.

Work on the Nizhegorodsky electric depo is carried out between the right-of-way line of the Kurskoye direction of the railroad, Entuziastov highway, and the Third Ring Road on the territory of the former Voitovich rail-car repair plant.

Three electric depots are planned to be used to maintain the BCL rolling stock. These are the Zamoskvoretskoye electric depot under reconstruction, the Aminyevskoye and Nizhegorodskoye electric depots under construction.

The construction of the Big Circle Line is the main project of the Moscow Metro construction. Its length will exceed 70 km, and it will accommodate 31 stations, 22 of which are already servicing the passengers.
