Architectural and finishing work is underway
“The Pechatniki station of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Moscow Metro is about 65% complete”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.
Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor to construct new lines and stations of the Moscow metro.
“Currently, the cast-in-situ structures of the station under construction are more than 50% complete, and the overall construction readiness of the station is estimated at 65%. The construction of interior walls and partitions is underway. Architectural and finishing work is well underway in the platform area, bridge crossings, block of technical premises and the ticket office of the second concourse. In addition, internal utility systems and equipment are being installed”, said the Deputy Mayor.
He added that, in parallel, preparations for the installation of the escalator equipment and lifts are also underway.
“Two lift shafts have been transferred to install lift equipment. We have also started installing escalators: three out of 17 escalators have been installed”, said the head of the Moscow Complex of Urban Planning Policy and Construction.
According to Konstantin Maslakov, General Director of MIP-Stroy 1 (being part of the Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies), the prospective station of the Big Circle Line will have an individual design, and the architectural solutions comply with modern principles of organising functional space.
“The station’s interior design meets the main functional theme – creating a modern transport hub. For example, finishing of the passenger zone of the station complex is implemented clearly in line with the silhouette of the supporting structures, which enable to save more vacant space for the comfortable movement of passengers”, specified Konstantin Maslakov.
He also emphasised that the facade panels are being installed, walls, ceiling and columns are being finished and the laying of granite on the platform area is underway. The materials, used in the finishing, are produced in Russia.
One of the solutions in the decoration of the Pechatniki station is a combination of black and white shades. The architectural appearance is based on the image of the Russian capital letter “П” of the station name.
Today, Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, has inspected the construction progress of the Pechatniki station of the eastern section of the Big Circle Line.
“The eastern section of the BCL of the Moscow Metro is 70% complete. I hope that all the major construction work on this section will be completed by the end of this year”, said the Mayor of Moscow.
The Big Circle Line is the largest metro construction project in Russia and one of the largest in the world. The BCL will be 70 km long, including 31 stations, 22 of which are already open to passengers.
