“Construction of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter tunnel under the 32nd km of the Moscow Automobile Ring Road is 50% complete”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general contractor and general designer of a number of sections of the Moscow High-Speed ​​Diameter.

“Construction of the protecting apron is nearly completed, 71 pipes out of 73 have been installed, with 52 already concreted, and the concreting of the ground mass has started in the shaft tunnel, in parallel”, said the Deputy Mayor.

Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, specified that the protecting apron would not restrict traffic on the Moscow Automobile Ring Road during the excavation work. The tunnel is 102.5 metres long, 64.8 metres of which is the enclosed part and the rest is the open ramp sections.

The tunnel will be part of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter from the Moscow Automobile Ring Road to the Solntsevo-Butovo-Varshavskoye Highway. The section is 15% complete, with about 12 km of roads to be built.

“Seven engineering structures are planned for this section of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter: in addition to a tunnel under the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, there will also be a tunnel at the intersection of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter and Simferopolskoye Highway, a bridge over the Bitsa River and four overflies”, specified Yuri Kravtsov.

Previously, Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, announced about the decision to stitch together the North-East and South-East Chords into a new city highway under a possible name of the Moscow High-Speed ​​Diameter.

“For the millions of car owners, creation of the Moscow High-Speed ​​Diameter will constitute a new transport reality: faster and more comfortable travels from one area of the city to another. Bypassing the center, it will take only 40 minutes to drive through the entire city without a single traffic light”, wrote Sergei Sobyanin in his blog.
